Born and raised in Nigeria, Buchi is a consummate writer and singer of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ever since his transition from the night club to the church in 1992, and the subsequent release of his debut album in 1999, Buchi has not looked back.
At age 24, he had already become a university lecturer, a career which he combined with an M.Phil\/Ph.D research programme in the Department of English, University of Lagos. It was here, in 1994, that he yielded to the higher calling to publish and propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ through the creative arts of literature and music .<\/p>\n

While in the university, his casual involvement in black activism through The Reggae Club grew more intense after listening to Oliver Thambo and the officials of ANC (African National Congress) from South Africa, during the club’s exhibition on \u201cApartheid in South Africa\u201d. Again, having studied the black activist literature of Dennis Brutus, Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Muta Baruka and the likes, Buchi’s preoccupation with reggae music as an ‘outcry against oppression’ became deeper.<\/p>\n

Little wonder he also became involved in one of the campus confraternities which at the time prided themselves as anti-oppression movements. This preoccupation with reggae music took a new turn when his friend Ras Kimono invited him to join the team of deejays on the floating Bukka \u2013 a reggae nightclub situated on a docked vessel on the Marina, Lagos Island.<\/p>\n

Foremost on the list of Buchi’s strong musical influences are Eric Donaldson, Joseph Hills, Burning Spear and Frankie Paul. Buchi’s life took a new turn after an encounter with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. Buchi gave his life to Christ on the 30th December, 1992 in Christ Embassy church.<\/p>\n

Album Releases<\/h2>\n

\u00b7 His first album<\/strong> – These Days, was released in 1999<\/strong>.
\u00b7 His second album<\/strong> – So Beautiful, was released in 2002.
\u00b7 The Third one<\/strong> – What a Life! was released in 2005<\/strong>.
\u00b7 In 2008<\/strong>, he released his fourth album – Sound of Life,
\u00b7 In 2011 the fifth<\/strong> – Judah! was released.
\u00b7Three other albums<\/strong> – “I See”, “Red, Gold and Green”
and “11:59pm<\/strong>” were released in 2014, 2017 and 2020<\/strong>
respectively.<\/p>\n
